With five years of private teaching experience, Mr. Chaviers is one of the most sought-after music instructors for strings and piano in Houston’s Midtown, Montrose, and Downtown areas. He has helped start students of all ages on violin, viola, cello, and piano and has ensured that each student makes reliable progress towards becoming a competent musician. His students have performed full length solo and group recitals in both formal and “informal” settings. His students have successfully auditioned for HSPVA, Houston’s All-City Orchestra, and Region orchestras. Whether a student is an absolute beginner or a young professional looking to launch their career, Mr. Chaviers strives to create a safe and encouraging environment which allows each student to develop at their own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes, I recommend that each student has their own instrument. With the exception of piano students, each student should also bring their own instrument to each lesson. It is crucial for each student’s progress that they have a properly functioning instrument both at home and in the lesson.

How do I find an instrument?

I recommend that string students invest in a rental instrument as opposed to purchasing an instrument. My favorite string shop in Houston is Lisle Violin Shop. They offer affordable, high-quality instruments which come with most of the necessary starting accessories. It is not advisable to buy an instrument online from Amazon or Walmart as these are usually non-functioning and very low-quality. For piano students, I recommend searching Facebook marketplace for a cheap electric keyboard with weighted keys.
